Get on the Dean’s List #DLVoxbox

From pulling all nighters to furiously running from one thing to the next, we all know what students from the Dean list look like, zombies.  Alright, I’m kidding (kind of).  We work hard to get on the Dean’s List.  We read and memorize and take notes till our hands are cramped around the pen.  We don’t give up and we get things done.  We set goals, achieve goals, and create new goals.  We don’t know when to give up.  And that’s a good thing.  Our perseverance paid off.

The Dean’s List VoxBox has everything you need to get on the Dean’s list (well, almost everything…textbooks are rather important).  From little candies (Airhead bites, because who wouldn’t love miniature pieces of Airheads?) to keep you awake during long night study sessions to little watermelon throat drops from Luden’s to soothe your aching throat before a presentation.  They got you covered from the time you head out of your dorm for class to a great party during the weekend.

For class, you always need more pens.  Who knows where pens disappear to?  I use the pen in one class and by the next it disappears.  I swear they run away from me!  This Vox Box has me covered with two Pilot FriXion Clicker pens: one in blue and one in black.  And guess what?  I know I’m a total dork, but I love the experience of using new school supplies from the smell of new folders to the sound of that first crack when you open a brand new notebook.  Well this Vox Box has spoiled me with these amazing pens that are erasable.  Yes, they are erasable!  They are not like the other pens that claim to be erasable.  These actually erase every little mark!

After class, your skin could look a little dull and your eyes may look a bit tired from all that studying and staring for multiple hours at your computer screen.  So, you decide to go out for the night.  But, your eyes look super tired.  You applied concealer, but there is still something missing.  LASHES!  Lashes can really open up your eyes and make you look more awake!

In the Vox Box there was a pair of KISS lashes to help you get ready for that awesome party, because you deserve it after such a long week!  And who can forget about chapped lips which will inevitably happen because coffee does not hydrate you like water!  And of course, the Dean’s List Vox Box has got you covered with the Softlips cube 5 in 1 lip care!  Plus, no outfit is complete without a great coat of nail polish over your nails.  And what is more classic than red?  The Sinful Colors no Text Red supports practicing safe texting!  This red color will jog your memory every time you reach for that phone behind the wheel!

And there is nothing worse than having that time of the month line up with exam week.  Hormones and stress do not mix well.  The Dean’s List Vox Box came with a box of Playtex Sport Fresh Balance tampons to save the day.  And if you have massive cramps, my mom always told me to drink hot tea.  It really works to soothe and relax the muscles!

This Vox Box has seriously got me covered for any situation that comes my way!

Looking Back from Childhood to College Graduate

When you’re little, all you want to do is grow up. But when you’re older and responsibilities begin flooding in, there is nothing you want more in this world than crawl in to your mother’s arms and let her take care of all your problems.
Unfortunately, that’s now how life works.  Instead, you’ll spend the greatest, happiest years of your life in elementary school, playing on the playground and having snack time.  But when you’re in elementary school, especially the first few years, it feels like your parents are abandoning you every morning they drop you off at school.  You try as hard as you can to not cry, as you wave solemnly to your parents’ cars as they drive past you.  You get shuffled in to the school building by some total strangers that are supposedly not a part of the “stranger danger” philosophy that parents spend years grinding in to your head.
And you sit in a classroom quietly, staring at your Little mermaid tennis shoes that your mother helped you tie up this morning.  And if you’re lucky, another person comes over and says hello.  A hello that can change your life and lead to a lifelong friendship.

Even as you slowly grow used to the pace of school with a period for reading, a specific time for math, a time for science and history, and a short break for lunch with a recess soon after that seems to go by way too fast.  You gradually go from one grade to another and every year a new teacher, whom you’ve never met before give you that same glossy lipstick smile and a little folder with your name on the top of it.  You take the folder from her perfectly manicured nails and walk to your designated seat.

And this rotation repeats until you get to Middle School, where the days in the classroom seems to drag on and on with no reprieve in sight.  Sitting in windowless classrooms, completely oblivious to the outside world for six hours a day, five days a week.  High school wasn’t much better than this awfully awkward time where people keep on telling you “your body is changing” like you’ll magically become a flying unicorn or something or they’ll tell “you’re becoming an adult,”while they’re still pinching you on the cheeks.

Anyway the first two years of high school is just as awkward as middle school because everyone is till in the midst of puberty and trying to find a crowd they could fit in to.  The last two years of high school, the time where everything finally comes together, is the time you say goodbye to what might be the best years of your life.  The friends you made while still having metal braces in your mouth and acne on your face are the friends you’ll probably keep for a lifetime because these friends were there in all the awkward stages of your life.  And you guys went through all the awkwardness together, what could bring you closer to any other person than that?

Now, you’re in college and you start again, feeling like a little kindergartener standing quietly by the door, waiting for the teacher to acknowledge you.  But this time it’s scarier, there is no parent for you to run to, no familiar face for you hold on to, and no comforting arms to fall in to.  You’re in college and you’re by yourself in unfamiliar territory.  All the friends you made in middle and high school, all your safety nets are gone.  And you’re back to wondering where you should sit or who would let you sit next to them, back to wondering if those muffled snickers are directed at you or if the stares you feel boring in to your back are real.

But sooner or later, those snickers or stares won’t matter anymore because who cares?  Just do what you got to do.  You’re there for an education anyway not to get trashed on the weekends.  But when graduation day comes, you can be proud at what you achieved.  Next step, career hunting…

Lose 10 pounds in Two Months the Healthy Way

Hello Beauties,
Started working out March, worked out six days a week decreased to five days a week in April and now it’s two to three days a week in June and July and continuing through August.  Work just gets in the way of my workout time because my hours change from week to week.

healthy habits:
no snacking after dinner
drink more water
try not to eat processed foods
eat more fruits and vegetables

My workout consists of cardio and pilates and HIITILATES.  I use the workout calendar by Casey Ho of Blogilates.  She has amazing workouts that really get you toned and sore the next day.  She has beginners’ calendars for people just starting to workout too!  It’s not too late to create goals for the year.  It doesn’t have to start in January.  Goals can be made anytime and you can start working toward those goals any time you want.  The quicker you start, the quicker you’ll reach it.

And one more thing, dieting does not work!  Being healthy has to be a lifestyle.  I’ve lost ten pounds since March and I’ve never been happier with myself!  I’m halfway to my goal weight!  When I dieted and cut off all unhealthy foods.  I only lasted for a month without any type of chocolate or cookie or goldfish (I’m addicted).  Yes, I was at my goal weight, but was I really able to stick with it?  No, but I have found a healthier way.  Sure, I eat some chocolate and cheese cracker here and there, but I portion it so the calories won’t be too overwhelming.

When you’re snacking, put your snacks in a bowl rather than eat from the bag or box, that way you won’t be tempted to eat all of it!  And try to add in more fruits and vegetables in your diet.  I bought a water bottle with a fruit infuser chamber and I love it.  Strawberry is definitely my favorite fruit to put in my bottle!  And I find that I drink way more water with this bottle.

I am in no way certified dietician or trainer.  This is just what works for me and I though I’d share it with you.  If you have any tips to share, don’t forget to comment down below!

When to Shop

Hello Beauties,
As stores gear up for the big back to school sales, there are a lot of other sales too for you non-students.  All the merchandise from late spring and summer are going on sale!  Now is a great time to shop till you drop without putting yourself in financial trouble.

If there is one thing that my mother taught me, it is when and how to shop.  Growing up, my mother always shopped off-season, meaning she bought winter clothes in the summer and summer clothes in the winter.  And I always had the privilege of having more than enough clothes to wear.  For you bargain hunter beginners, here’s a quick list of when to shop for what.  Wrapped up with my experience in retail, this is a pretty solid list.

For winter clothes…

  • Late spring, all the winter clothes are going on sale to make room for the new spring stuff!
  • Early summer, there is always something left in the Clearance section, as long as you’re willing to dig, you’ll find your gem.
  • Or if you need it this year before it gets cold, there is always a few items at a great price on Black Friday or during the holiday sales, but that is only if you’re willing to brave the traffic and the crowds.
    • Tips for Black Friday: Look at advertisement papers and mark where you will go and what you will buy.  Don’t go browsing.  With this large amount of people, there is no time for browsing, you will miss all the good deals.
    • I’ve picked up quite a lot of good stuff during Holiday sales.
      • Sephora’s annual 20% off is around mid-November to early December, so stock up on all your necessities!
      • Online shopping- there are always good deals around this time of year, so get that ONE thing you’ve been dying to have.  The prices won’t get any better than this if they’re a brand name item.
For spring/summer clothes…
  • Mid-July to early August is usually the best time to shop for three reasons:
    • You can buy spring clothes that will transition your wardrobe from summer to fall
    • Get some cute summer frocks to end the summer on a high note and keep them till next year
    • Plus, if there is any late winter to early spring clothes on sale then you have a great fall/winter wardrobe ahead!

When I Try to Take a Selfie, This Happens…

Hello Beauties,
Today’s post is a little out of the ordinary.  When I was filming my Remember Prom? post, I had a little too much fun with my camera.  I could not for the life of me, keep a straight face to get a good shot of my makeup.  I think making silly faces is so much easier than taking a pretty, flawless selfie that you see others do.  I think it’s just me.  But I can’t get it together long enough for a perfect selfie to be taken.

First of all, I almost always blink right when the camera snaps the photo, so I look like I’m about to sneeze.

OR I am not prepared for the camera to take the picture and there’s the witch face with a capital B!

OR I just gave up…

I tried to look all nice and this comes out…

OR I held the camera to my face at an awkward angle…
Does one eye look bigger than the other???

Yeah, I just gave up at this point.

Yup, I think I got the horror movie scream down.
The best I could do is avoid the camera!!!

I hope this post made you guys laugh and if you want more of these random posts, don’t forget to subscribe.  And if this happens to you, comment down below!  I can’t be the only one, right?
