Okay, these ingredients are not miracle workers. It took weeks before I saw any results. But after using Sulfur and Benzoyl Peroxide. The combination of these two chemicals cleared up my skin. I no longer have painful, pus-filled pimples. I get the occasional red bumps now and then BUT I never get those huge painful cysts on my face anymore.
After trying five different acne medications and topical creams, my dermatologist finally found the perfect combination to clear up my acne. She gave me a sulfur cleanser and Epiduo to clear up my skin. I have been using these two ingredients for years now. The combination of these two products kept my skin clear for weeks. I still get the occasional zit but I NEVER get those same painful bumps from before.
Epdiuo contains benzoyl peroxide which is a popular acne-fighting ingredient. Other acne fighting medications such as retinol or salicylic acid does not work on my cystic acne at all. But the small amount of Benzoyl Peroxide in Epiduo is just enough to clear up those spots and not dry out my skin.
My sulfur cleanser is amazing. Sulfur helps the skin heal quicker and kills the bacteria that can lead to future breakouts. Sulfur is super gentle and does not dry out my skin. Plus, sulfur makes my skin less oily, further preventing future breakouts. Excess oil or sebum production can lead to clogged pores and more breakouts. Sulfur is a great acne-fighting ingredient for those with sensitive skin.
To get my clear skin, I had to use the sulfur cleanser every morning and every night. I used Epiduo every night. If I felt a spot coming or already had a spot, Epiduo would reduce the size and redness of the spot overnight. I NEVER had those pesky whiteheads or clogged pores again. I even noticed my blackheads beginning to disappear about a month in to the treatment. Sulfur and Benzoyl Peroxide gave my skin a fighting chance. I can’t get over how soft and smooth my skin is!
Stay tuned for my next post, where I will show you what drugstore treatments contain these amazing ingredients.
DISCLAIMER: I am NOT a dermatologist. I am just sharing what worked for me and how I cleared up my skin. If these ingredients work for you too, great! But if they don’t there are so many other options out there.
