I’m not going to lie. My hair has seen better days. I am terrible about brushing my hair and constantly put my hair in a top knot. By mid-week, I could start forming dreads with my knots. So, here are 5 Quick and Easy ways to keep your hair healthy and prevent those terrible knots.
1 Don’t wash your hair every day. Washing your hair everyday can cause dryness and strip your hair of its natural oils. These natural oils protect your hair and keep it strong.
2 Use dry shampoo. So, you won’t look like an oily mess, get a good dry shampoo that doesn’t leave an awkward white cast on your hair. And many dry shampoo nowadays, smells ahhhmazing!
3 When you do wash your hair, don’t apply shampoo to your strands. Gently rub the shampoo in to your scalp. This rubbing action will prevent product build-up in your hair, which can lead to decreased hair growth, weaker hair, and fall out. None of which is good.
*Tip: To prevent build-up, I love using Keranique Scalp Stimulating Shampoo. It’s like toothpaste for your hair. And my scalp feels super clean after I wash with this shampoo. My hair looks shinier and healthier after I wash off all the previous days dry shampoo and hair products.
4 Always use conditioner. I get lazy too but the two minutes you take to rub conditioner on your hair can leave your hair less tangled and shinier.
*Tip: When applying conditioner, always apply to the strands (avoiding the scalp). Applying conditioner to your roots and scalp area can lead to oily, greasy hair. Since I have super straight hair, I use the Keranique Volumizing Keratin Conditioner to give my hair natural looking volume.
5 Cut your hair. I’m not talking about cutting off all of your hair, but get a trim every 2 months. A one inch trim every 2 months prevents split ends and keeps your hair healthy and strong.
